Position Description:

The Business Development Intern will work in partnership with the Clara Foods Commercial and Technical teams to research, identify and prioritize new applications, markets and customer prospects with a global scope. The candidate will have the ability to support and lead efforts in qualifying targets, communicating with customers, identifying and engaging internal and external subject matter experts, as well as develop market positioning, with an overarching goal of diversifying and expanding business opportunities for Clara Foods.

Ideal Start Date: January 2021
Length of Internship: 3-6 months

Location: Remote

FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Part-time, work up to 20 hours max per week. 

Hiring Manager: Commercial Manager

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct customer segmentation and market research
  • Explore new and existing applications and report on product / market fit 
  • Develop and define strategy in new and existing segments 
  • Support and manage pipeline of new customers prospects 
  • Mine internet sites, databases and other sources for contact information
  • Conduct outreach to newly identified prospects, schedule appointments and manage sales-oriented logistics
  • Manage data entry into CRM database
  • Assess current processes to recommend and implement improvements in current way of working
  • Manage and monitor supply and demand forecasting

Background and Qualifications

  • Education: Junior or Senior Undergraduate Student studying business, economics, marketing or finance 
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills and prior experience in customer facing roles 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as be a strong team player and contributor
  • A hands-on learner that is positive, results-oriented and success-driven
  • Exposure to CRM databases a plus
