Mary has over 10 years of deal making, investing and entrepreneurial experience in both large Pharmaceutical
companies (J&J) and numerous small startups, particularly in therapeutics. In business development, Mary has had responsibility for identifying, evaluating, and negotiating M&A and licensing deals ranging in size from under $200K to over $5 billion across diverse therapeutic areas at all stages of development.
She led deals for Johnson & Johnson in the Menlo Park, CA Innovation Center. While at J&J she also established a new program to fund external new company formation at the angel/seed stage and invested in new companies. Before J&J, Mary held deal making and other roles at Forest Laboratories now Allergan, in New York City. Prior to Forest, Mary led business development/deal making at a 4 person startup in the Boston area. She closed a merger that substantially diversified the pipeline and the company was subsequently acquired.
Mary holds an MBA from MIT Sloan, with a focus on new venture development, a PhD from Princeton focusing on cognitive neuroscience, for which she was offered both the DOD and NSF graduate research fellowships, and a BA magna cum laude from Yale, where she did track & field and field hockey. She is also a Class 18 Kauffman Fellow.
