Marty currently holds the position of Sr. VP, R&D at SlipChip Corporation, a company possessing a disruptive microfluidic technology, where he oversees development of the company’s technology platform and execution of the product portfolio directed at nucleic acid and protein testing. Previously he was the Chief Operating Office at Gen9, a synthetic biology startup, where he oversaw the implementation and commercialization of the companies first BioFab™ manufacturing facility for the high throughput production of synthetic DNA constructs. Prior to that he worked at Affymetrix in roles of increasing responsibility from establishing and overseeing the company’s first wafer scale manufacturing facility to Sr. VP R&D where he had responsibility for the commercialization of numerous GeneChip® products ranging from new gene expression, genotyping or cytogenetic detection arrays to the launch of the GeneTitan® and GeneAtlas® platforms. Before Affymetrix, Marty began his career at IBM Corporation at the TJ Watson Research Center and East Fishkill manufacturing facilities working on photoimageable dielectric coatings such as photosensitive polyimides. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of California at San Diego.
